Is EPEV right for me?

Who is the EPEV Public Life Mentoring Programme for?

Do you want to make a difference in your community, or speak up about issues that matter to you?

Would you like to get more involved in public or political life and have an impact on the decisions that affect you, your communities and our society?  Are you frustrated by the lack of people like you in politics or decision-making spaces, like the Senedd, your local council, or on public boards? Is there an issue that you feel passionate about or have ideas for making change?

Do you have lived experience, a passion for change, or fresh ideas that deserve to be heard?

If so, Equal Power Equal Voice is for you.

How the Programme Supports You

By providing access to a range of development tools and resources, building strong peer networks, and promoting a commitment to lifelong learning, the Equal Power Equal Voice (EPEV) programme will empower you to become a catalyst for change.

You will leave the programme with greater individual and collective confidence, equipped to bridge the gap into political and public life.

Benefits include:

  • Increased confidence in your own ability to make change and find your voice
  • Enhanced understanding of how decisions get made in Wales and how to influence them
  • Greater knowledge of different levels of government (local, Senedd, Westminster)
  • Deeper awareness of key policy issues affecting Wales
  • Improved public speaking and communication skills
  • Opportunities to meet and engage with influential leaders
  • Opportunities to meet and engage with experienced leaders
  • Widening and strengthening your networks

Who can apply?

EPEV is for anyone from a marginalised or underrepresented background in Wales who wants to step into public life. Whether you’re interested in becoming a local councillor, joining a public board, or influencing change in your community, this programme can help you build the confidence, skills, and networks to take the next step.

We welcome applications from individuals who are aged 18+ and living in Wales, who identify as:

  • A Black, Asian or ethnic minority person
  • A person from the LGBTQ+ community
  • A disabled person
  • A woman
  • Or any combination of any of those identities

And have a clear interest in making an impact in public or political life, and a commitment to their own development.

If you’re unsure, get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
